General Information
The American Legion South Houston Post 490 is located across from the main entrance to Ellington Field, south of Houston, Texas. Post 490 is in the 22nd District, 2nd Division, Department of Texas.   The Post Commander for 2008-2009 is Tim Zaso.
General Membership Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. The Board of Trustees meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 P.M., the Executive Committee at 7:00 P.M.
The newly remodeled Post Clubroom is open for members and their guests on Monday through Friday from 12:00 Noon until 12:00 Midnight; and until 1:00 A.M. on Saturday. It is open on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 9:00 P.M.
The Post Hall is available for rental for parties, weddings, receptions, meetings, and other events for a reasonable rate.
The Post sponsors teams in
American Legion Baseball. The baseball program, and other youth activities and scholarships are supported by the proceeds of an Annual Golf Tournament.
The Post and its activities are supported by the Ladies Auxiliary Unit 490. The Post sponsors the Sons of The American Legion Squadron 490 and The American Legion Riders.
